Cvetič We revisit the definition of rotating thermal states for scalar and fermion fields in unbounded Minkowski space–time. For scalar fields such states are ill-defined everywhere, but for fermion fields an appropriate definition of the vacuum gives thermal states regular inside the speed-of-light surface. For a massless fermion field, we derive analytic expressions for the thermal expectation values of the fermion current and stress–energy tensor. These expressions may provide qualitative insights into the behaviour of thermal rotating states on more complex space–time geometries. © 2014 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. Vibrational Superposition States Without Rotating Wave Approximation
We propose a scheme to generate superpositions of coherent states for the vibrational motion of a laser cooled trapped-ion. It is based on the interaction with a standing wave making use of the counter-rotating terms, i.e. not applying the rotating wave approximation. We also show that the same scheme can be exploited for quantum state measurement, i.e. with the same scheme non-classical states...
متن کاملAngular Momentum in Loop Quantum Gravity
An angular momentum operator in loop quantum gravity is defined using spherically symmetric states as a non-rotating reference system. It can be diagonalized simultaneously with the area operator and has the familiar spectrum. The operator indicates how the quantum geometry of non-rotating isolated horizons can be generalized to rotating ones and how the recent computations of black hole entrop...
متن کاملCrystalline character of high-magnetic-field cusp states in quantum dots
Conditional probability distributions from exact diagonalization are used to investigate the crystalline or liquid character of the downward cusp states in parabolic quantum dots (QD’s) at high magnetic fields. These states are crystalline in character for fractional fillings covering both low and high values, unlike the liquid Jastrow-Laughlin wave functions, but in remarkable agreement with t...

The crystalline or liquid character of the downward cusp states in N-electron parabolic quantum dots at high magnetic fields is investigated using conditional probability distributions obtained from exact diagonalization. These states are of crystalline character for fractional fillings covering both low and high values, unlike the liquid Jastrow-Laughlin wave functions, but in remarkable agree...

The present study aims at investigating stress and deformation behavior of rotating thick truncated conical shells subjected to variable internal pressure. Material prpperties of the shells are graded along the axial direction by Mori-tanaka scheme, which is achieved by elemental gradation of the properties.Governing equations are derived using principle of stsionary total potential (PSTP) and ...
